Your committee or group's home page on the Lutheransnw.org site

The Northwest Washington Synod encourages committees and groups to establish Web pages on the Synod's site to provide the community with information from and about the organization.

Getting started

Here are the steps you should take to create your committee or group's presence on the site:

  1. Contact the Synod's Communication Administrator, Margit Peiffle, to let her know you wish to work on a web page for the Synod's site and what you plan to include on your page.
  2. Develop your content (without design) following the guidelines below.
  3. Submit your content to Margit Peiffle for review.
  4. The Synod's Webmaster will build the page.
  5. Your page can, and should, be updated on a regular basis. Please determine who on your committee will submit updates to Margit Peiffle.

Creating content

Here are a few guidelines to help you create your web page:

  • Include your committee or group's name, address and phone number.
  • Provide an e-mail address for the organization's leader.
  • Make your page welcoming. This may be the first exposure to your organization for lots of people.
  • Include a good description of your organization.
  • Avoid long bodies of text; use white space and be succinct.
  • Use graphics sparingly; one main graphic or a couple small ones on a page make it more interesting to the eye, but too many large graphics can make the page look gaudy and confusing--and take too long to load which my try the patience of your visitors.
  • Keep your content up-to-date. It is not necessary to change your page often as long as the content is current and accurate.
  • All pages will comply with the Synod's web standards.

Submitting content

Provide your content in electronic format. You can use Microsoft Word or a similar word processing software, Notepad, or any ASCII text editor.

  • Images may be submitted in any format but will be converted to GIF or JPEG format.
  • No scripting many be used on your page without first clearing it with the Communication's Committee.

Your site's location

All organization pages hosted on the Northwest Washington Synod site will be listed on the About Us page under Committees and Groups. When they first go live, they will also be listed on the Spotlight section of the home page and on the What's New page.
