Companion Synods

The Northwest Washington Synod has companion synod relationships with two churches: The Evangelical Lutheran Church of European Russia and Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus - Northern Synod.

Team Russia - Russian Companion Synod

Team Russia is a task force of the Northwest Washington Synod whose mission it is to create a spiritual bond and special friendship between the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Northwest Washington Synod and the Evangelical Lutheran Church of European Russia (ELCER), to provide mutual support through prayer and other assistance which will promote the Kingdom of God, and to obtain greater knowledge and appreciation for the traditions and missions of each church body. ELCER is one of the eleven national churches in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Russia and Other States (ELCROS). Team Russia works to forge bonds on three levels: synod to synod, congregation to congregation (partners), and person to person (friendship).
