 o live resistant to the empires around us. Two companions\, each in their 
 own century and particular experience\, found ways to be human in light of
  their Christian faith.\nKierkegaard's fierce insistence to resist followi
 ng the crowds that deny our particular individuality and Thurman's deep we
 ll of contemplative\, prophetic presence\, and reclaiming of subjugated id
 entities. Together they both point to a life in Christ where we can balanc
 e interiority and public faithfulness all in the same body. This is Lent w
 e will deepen an understanding for what it means to give up something by s
 etting aside the powers clamoring for our attention\, and to welcome a ren
