Lent with Baldwin and Bonhoeffer

6-week course via zoom - Thursdays during Lent 7-8:30pm (Feb 15th-March 21st)

What might Dietrich Bonhoeffer (a Lutheran German theologian) and James Baldwin (a Black, 20th century author and novelist) together have to prophetically speak to our current time? This co-facilitated course, through a combination of presentations, and brief selected readings, will invite a conversation for how these particular perspectives inform our lives as persons and communities of faith. Come join the conversation!

This 6-week course will meet via zoom 7-8:30pm on Thursday nights during Lent (Feb 15th-March 21st), facilitated by Dr. Edward Donalson III and Dr. Dan Peterson.

Session 1: Why? Why might these two perspectives help or hinder a generative conversation for us as people of faith?

Session 2: Who? An introduction: Who is James Baldwin?

Session 3: Who? An Introduction: Who is Dietrich Bonhoeffer?

Session 4: What? What does James Baldwin communicate and teach the world?

Session 5: What? What does Dietrich Bonhoeffer communicate and have to share with the world?

Session 6: How? How do you imagine these particular perspectives, in conversation with one another, inform our lives as persons and communities of faith?
