Welcome Rev. Judy Brennan!

We are delighted to announce that Rev. Judy Brennan has accepted the call to serve as one of our Directors for Evangelical Mission (DEM)! Pastor Judy brings a deep passion for God's people and rich history of life and ministry experiences to this position.

Judy was ordained to the Ministry of Word and Sacrament in 2004 and was called to the Indiana-Kentucky Synod where she served three congregations in the Louisville area. In 2013 she moved to the NW Washington Synod and has served two congregations in Bellevue and on synodical task groups. She loves hearing about where people encounter the sacred in their daily life and partnering in both traditional rituals and new ventures. Read more about Pastor Judy here: www.lutheransnw.org/about/our-team

She will begin this role on October 1, allowing an essential overlap with current DEM, Deacon Dianne Johnson, who will retire at the end of October. Pastor Judy is excited about entering this new role - and looks forward to working with God's beloved people of the NW Washington Synod.

God bless this new ministry partnership!

Directors for Evangelical Mission serve in positions shared by both the synod and churchwide expressions of this church. They are fully churchwide staff who are fully embraced by synods. They convene leadership tables in their synods, which oversee four main areas:

  • mission development or “new starts”
  • congregational renewal or "redevelopment"
  • Mission Support and stewardship
  • missional vision and planning for the synod

They are a key resource for congregations and leaders seeking tools and counsel for starting a new ministry or revitalizing existing ministries, as well as how to identify, develop and equip leaders for mission and ministry.
